Sunday we were givin $5 to bless some one with as part of a sermon about leaving a legacy. Now I know that this shouldn't be hard but I'm having a bit of a problem finding someone to bless...any suggestions. Well I'm just praying that somone comes my way or I run into someone or something I can give to that will be a blessing to them.

My first thought...buy a Meijers gift certificate for the $5 and give it someone who needs to buy groceries!
Hey that's a great thought. Thanks
When I was SS Superintendent I actually did this with each SS class, and challenged the children to make their $5.00 grow (hard to do a lot in today's economy with $5.00) so they could be a blessing to someone in need. We encouraged them to partner with Mom/Dad or grandparents to make the dollars stretch as far as possible (making it more of a family event). I gave lots of ideas to jump start them, such as gas cards, grocery gift certificates, gift certificate to a resturant and an offer to baby-sit (with adult supervision) for a young couple so they could have some alone time, a pretty boquet of flowers for someone who might not receive them, etc...). Once they had their idea, we also challenged them to present the idea to the store/gas station, etc..., and see if they might be willing to match what they were spending. I spent a lot of time educating the children about the appropriate way to do this, because they were representing Jesus.
Two weeks later, we gave the children an opportunity to share with the entire congregation what they did, and whom they blessed. I want to tell you, I stood in awe with some of the creative ideas they came up with!
I say if Oprah can do a "Big Give", challenging her viewers to be compassionate and giving, then the Body of Christ needs to step up to the plate and not let the world look more like what we should have been doing all along.
Sorry for such a long post.
Blessings!
